Carmen Berila

Co-founder and Art Lead

Carmen Berila is the co-founder and Art Lead of Quest Fox Studio and the creative mind behind its art department.

As an Art Lead and 3D modeler, she oversees the visual direction of projects, ensuring top-quality 2D and 3D assets for both outsourced and in-house projects.

If you ever need to make a character, her mission is to facilitate a common vocabulary (mostly out of 2D sketches!) to bridge your ideas to sweet virtual-reality. They might be your game assets or your company/brand mascot!

Her journey into 3D art began in organic jewelry design, where she crafted several collections for a Danish brand that are still available in stores today. Transitioning into the gaming industry, she picked up the interesting (and intricate) game asset creation pipeline and today she is most of the time busy coordinating our 3D art projects and team.

Game Development explained – The Big Picture

We all like to play games! But how would it be to make them? How does game development differ from any other job out there?

Our presentation is here to cut through the glittering fog that is game dev today, giving you a clearer picture of what you’re up against when making games that aim to sell. We’re not here to dictate the “golden game dev solution” but rather encourage the right mindset with which you can emerge as unscathed as possible when diving into game development today. We will start by explaining to the best of our ability what is “Game Development” at a high level.

We’ll also check out the various industry segments of game development and where you as an individual best fit in them, based on your priorities.

An overview of how our Romanian indie game industry is doing: what worked, what didn’t, and we’ll also go over some of the game trends today. (as well as anti-trends!) Additionally, we’ll talk a bit about art styles in games, what is tech-art and a general overview of game asset creation pipelines. As a bonus round, we’ll also cover some key tips when preparing your portfolio when applying as an artist to a game studio.

As always we’ll have rounds of questions and gladly meet after the presentation if you want to say hi and chat.
