Wili is a Senior Software Engineer working with frontend technologies. When he is not on a slope skiing, he enjoys working with Angular and never misses a chance to help colleagues understand it better.

He is passionate about learning and passing on that knowledge to others. We met him at Peak IT 2018 and shortly after that he held his first Angular workshop in AgileHub.

Together with our colleague Paul, he teaches the first medium term program (16 week long) in AgileHub: “Front End and React” training.

If you attended his workshops then you already know that though he is very young he is a very fast learner – this is why he has extensive practical experience.

Workshop: Understanding Node.js

The goal of the workshop?

The goal of the workshop is to understand the fundamental parts of a Node.js HTTP server and create a simple API server.

What will we do in this workshop

We’ll dive deep into how Node.js works and better understand certain JavaScript features like Callbacks. After the fundamentals, we will create a small API server and call it from Postman. Taking things further we’ll see how a framework like Express can greatly simplify our code and help us in the long run.

You are in the target of the audience if you
  • Have worked with JavaScript before and have some basic knowledge of the fundamentals.
  • You are interested in expanding your JavaScript and Node.js knowledge with inner workings of these technologies.
What will you learn at the end

At the end of the workshop you will have a deeper understanding on how JavaScript works.

How we can run JavaScript outside of the web browser.

The magic that is happening when running Node.js.

Create a simple API server and request data using Postman.
